How does the fuel cost calculator work?
You enter where you're starting and where you're headed, plus any stops. We map the driving distance and time, then use live fuel prices from official government data covering 8,300+ Aussie stations to work out what the trip will cost you.
What does L/100km mean?
L/100km is litres per 100 kilometres, the standard way Australian cars report fuel use. A car rated at 7 L/100km burns 7 litres for every 100km you drive. The lower the number, the better the fuel economy.
How accurate is the route distance and time?
Distance and drive time come from real mapping data along the actual roads you'd drive, including any stops you've added. Real trip time can shift a bit with traffic, roadworks and how you drive on the day.
How is the cheapest-station saving worked out?
We compare the average fuel price along your route to the cheapest station we can find nearby, both pulled from live government price data. The saving is the difference between paying that average price and filling up at the cheaper station instead.
Can I add stops to my trip?
Yes. Use "Add a stop" to build a trip with multiple legs, handy for road trips that pass through a few towns. Every stop you add is included in the total distance, time and cost.
Does it work for diesel and premium fuel?
Yes. Choose E10, 91, 95, 98 or Diesel and we'll use live prices for that exact fuel type from stations along your route, not just regular unleaded.
