This Privacy Policy covers Fuel Daddy, a fuel-price comparison website and iOS app operated by MCD Automotive ("we," "our," or "us").

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Fuel Daddy website or iOS app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Location

With your permission, we use your device's location to show fuel stations near you, work out distances, and pick the price-trend region closest to you. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device or browser settings. Fuel Daddy still works without it, but it can't sort stations by distance.

• The app keeps your last known location on your device so the map opens where you left it.
• When you ask for directions or plan a route, your starting point is sent to Apple Maps to calculate it.
• When the app loads price trends for your area, your approximate coordinates are sent to our website to choose the nearest region. That request isn't linked to your account, and we don't keep the coordinates beyond standard web server logs.

We don't store your location in your account, and we don't send it to our alerts server or to analytics.

2.2 Your Account (app, optional)

You can create an account with Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We store:

• your email address (if you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email", this is the relay address Apple gives us)
• your name, if your sign-in provider shares it
• which sign-in method you used, and a unique user ID
• basic account activity: when the account was created and last used, how many times you've signed in or opened the app, total time in the app, how many favourites and vehicles you've saved, and your app version and platform

2.3 Things You Save in the App

When you're signed in, the following is stored against your account in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore):

• Favourite stations, with any alert settings you choose (price-drop threshold and fuel type)
• Vehicles: nickname, make, model, fuel type, registration number and state, body type and colour
• Fuel log entries: station, date and time, fuel type, litres, price, total, the payment method and notes you enter, odometer reading, the station's ABN, and an estimate of what you saved compared with the area average
• Receipt photos, if you choose to attach one to a fuel log entry (from your camera or photo library)

Some things stay only on your device: recent searches, station ratings, your in-app notification inbox and notification settings, and any vehicle you add before signing in (it moves to your account when you sign in).

2.4 Price-Drop Alerts

Price-drop alerts are free. If you turn on notifications, we store your device's push token, your favourite stations, your alert thresholds and your preferred fuel type, both in Firebase and on our alerts server (hosted by Render). Alerts are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings or in the app.

2.5 Optional Purchases

Every feature of Fuel Daddy is free. If you buy the optional "Support Fuel Daddy" tip, or still have a subscription from before the app became free, the payment is processed by Apple. We record on your account that you've made a purchase and when. We never see your payment details.

2.6 App Usage and Analytics

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how Fuel Daddy is used. It records events such as signing in or up, making a purchase, opening the support screen, adding or removing a favourite and viewing a station, along with standard usage data such as sessions, app version and device type. When you're signed in, these events are linked to your user ID. The app doesn't use an advertising identifier, doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and doesn't include a crash-reporting service.

2.7 The Website

You don't need an account to use fueldaddy.com.au. The website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure visits, such as the pages you view, your device type and an approximate location based on your IP address. If you use the contact form, the name, email address, enquiry type, subject and message you enter are emailed to us so we can reply.

2.8 Information We Don't Collect

• Payment card details
• Your contacts
• Photos, other than receipt photos you choose to attach
• Your browsing history outside Fuel Daddy
• Advertising identifiers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use this information to:

• run the website and app, including showing nearby stations and prices
• keep your favourites, vehicles and fuel log with your account
• send the price-drop alerts you ask for
• process optional purchases
• understand how Fuel Daddy is used so we can fix problems and improve it
• reply when you contact us

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

4. Who We Share It With

We share information only with the service providers that run parts of Fuel Daddy for us, and only as needed for them to do that:

• Google: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase Analytics for the app, and Google Analytics for the website (Google's Privacy Policy)
• Apple: Sign in with Apple, Apple Maps (MapKit), In-App Purchase and Apple Push Notification service (Apple's Privacy Policy)
• Render, which hosts our price-drop alerts server
• Hostinger, which hosts our website

These providers may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Fuel prices come from state Government fuel-price schemes, and we don't send them any of your information. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

5. Storage, Security and Retention

Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with the providers listed above. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep your account information for as long as your account exists, or until you ask us to delete it.

6. Children's Privacy

Fuel Daddy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

7. Your Choices and Rights

• Deny or revoke location access in your device or browser settings.
• Turn price-drop notifications off in your device settings or in the app.
• Use the website and the app's map without an account.
• Delete your account in the app under Settings, then Delete account. This removes your sign-in and account profile. To make sure your saved favourites, alert settings, vehicles, fuel log and photos are removed too, email us and we'll delete them.
• Ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us.
• If you still have a subscription from before Fuel Daddy became free, cancel it in your App Store account settings.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser to limit Google Analytics on the website.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.

Significant changes may be announced through the app or website.
